Baton Rouge Telco Federal Credit Union, Campus Federal Credit Union, EFCU Financial, La Capitol Federal Credit Union, Neighbors Federal Credit Union, and Pelican State Credit Union joined together to host the 20th Annual Baton Rouge Area Credit Union Charity Golf Tournament at Santa Maria Golf Course on November 4, 2024. This event raised $53,791.42, which is nearly an 18% increase from the prior year for the Baton Rouge Children’s Advocacy Center (BRCAC) to help children who are victims of trauma. With the funds raised, the Advocacy Center is able to cover federal funding cuts to provide direct services to child victims.
“We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support of the Baton Rouge Area Credit Union Charity Golf Tournament,” said Tanya Haase, BRCAC Executive Director. “Their generosity has been instrumental in allowing us to provide vital services to child victims of abuse and neglect at no cost to their families. Thanks to the funds raised over the past few years, we’ve been able to expand our mental health services and reduce wait times for crucial therapy sessions,” continued Haase.
Each year, the tournament exemplifies the cooperative spirit of credit unions and aligns with the industry’s philosophy of ‘people helping people.’ Credit unions are not-for-profit financial institutions that focus on giving back to their communities and partners while returning their earnings to members in the form of lower loan rates, higher dividends and financial education resources.
Thank you to all our generous sponsors! SWBC and Catalyst were the platinum sponsors of the event, and over 150 professionals from credit unions and local businesses supported this great cause.

Information about the Organization we partnered with or volunteered for:
The mission of the Baton Rouge Children’s Advocacy Center (BRCAC) is to set child victims on a solid path to healing and justice by providing trauma-informed, coordinated child-focused services in the aftermath of physical abuse, sexual abuse or if the child is a victim or witness to a violent crime. The BRCAC opened its doors in 2002 and has been providing hope for 20 years. The BRCAC is the sole agency providing immediate interventions to over 550 child victims and their families in the parishes of East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Iberville, and Pointe Coupee. The main building for BRCAC is called the “Yellow House” which provides a safe home-like atmosphere for traumatized children in the aftermath of the traumatic event. This is where the specialized trained BRCAC staff conduct forensic interviews and provide family advocacy services for the child and the non-offending caregiver. Our on-site mental health program is housed in the “Annex” building. The BRCAC is one of the very few CACs in the state of Louisiana to have an on-site mental health program. We offer individual therapy for the child victim and group therapy sessions for both the child and the non-offending caregiver. All services are provided at no cost to the child or their families.
